I’m back again with a partially-biased list because I haven’t finished Naruto yet!
I am now on season 17 and it’s full of making amends and seeing all those old people who died way before the action started. It was nice seeing Deidara, Sasori and his grandma, Haku and Zabuza, and Asuma yet again. The only sad part is that they were dead and couldn’t control their bodies. But hey, an appearance is an appearance.
So, here is an updated list of my favorite characters since I guess I’m 95% done…
#1 Kabuto

I still like Kabuto. Especially since he becomes a huge part in the Fourth Shinobi War and reanimates everyone. In the end, his life is changed for the better as he’s trapped in Itachi’s forbidden jutsu, and that makes him even better in my eyes. His childhood is similar to Itachi’s and I think that’s one thing that I like about him.
#2 Itachi

I’ve already talked about this guy. But the fact that he has had one of the most depressing childhoods I’ve ever read about and still manages to die a hero is inspiring. He is truly strong and I like that about him.
# naruto uzumaki

I don’t care if it’s lame to have the main character as your favorite, but Naruto just has a fight about him that I admire so much. He sees the heart and fight in everyone he meets, and he’s responsible for Gaara, Nagato and Sasuke’s change of heart. He is one of the best main characters I know.
#4 Nagato Uzumaki

Also known as Pain, Nagato was riddled by a life full of hurt, shame and disappointment. He was a sibling student with Naruto who was trained under Pervy Sage. He was very close to Konan and Yahiko, and he was sadly manipulated by Obito (Tobi aka fake Madara Uchiha) after Yahiko’s death. Nagato’s character is complex to me because I’m not sure how he is the seventh path but whatever. Still a cool guy.
#5 Killer Bee & Gyoki (the eight tails)

Bee will smack you down then rap about it. And Gyoki, one of the tailed beasts, will let him. These two are the perfect jinchuriki match and such an entertainment to watch!
#6 Gaara

Despite being a major villian in the chunnin exams arc in the first part, Gaara has redeemed himself (thanks to Naruto head butting him), stopped the unnecessary killing, and decided he would change himself and earn the trust of his village. This resulted in him becoming the Kazekage of the Sand, and I’m pretty sure he’s like 17 years old. Either way, Gaara is one of my favorites still because his character development is rich. He has friends, sweet relationships with his siblings, and has mended things with his father and found out that he WAS loved.
#7 Utakata

Probably the coolest jinchuriki I’ve ever come across. He’s mysterious, reserved, and looks like Sasuke. Unfortunately homeboy was killed while making a good decision. Well…I guess not everyone has a good death in the Shinobi world.
#8 sai

Sai is funny, kind-hearted, and full of weird questions. Naturally awkward, he seems infatuated with people’s manhood and giving weird nicknames. Being raised up in Danzo’s foundation, he’s all about suppressing his emotions but he’s pretty bad at it. The most touching moment I’ve ever seen with him is when he meets his brother again and he sees Sai’s finished drawing in his book. Such a toug
#9 obito

Obito gives me such “you really thought you ate” energies. I don’t understand how this clumsy, Rin-obsessed young boy became a war-starter and was responsible for the deaths of the Uchiha clan, his own sensei (Naruto’s dad), and many others that rippled. I am beyond excited to see how his character development turns out. Because I’m not liking him so far.
#10 Neji Hyuga

Neji is serious and rarely has a sense of humor, but he’s caring and very calming. It’s unfortunate that he dies during the war, though. What a strong and tenacious young man. At least he’s hilarious in Rock Lee’s show.
honorable mentions
Might Guy & Kakashi

This duo is absolutely nuts.
Guy and Kakashi are totally opposites but are really close friends. They’ve been together for a long time and although they are rivals, they still respect each other. I really hope Might doesn’t die in Shippuden because when I saw Boruto, I didn’t see him anywhere in there.
Rock Lee

You might as well call him Might Guy Jr! He has a crush on Sakura, is crazy intense, and looks weird. He’s the perfect look for a main character. (Which he actually is in his own anime right here! I definitely recommend you watch it.)
The third Hokage & Danzo

Danzo was always getting people to kill other people in secret. Hiruzen acted like he didn’t know but he was a lot nicer. This duo was not cute, but actually insane. After the third Hokage died fighting his student, Orochimaru, we learn a lot about him; like how he too had many secrets. Although Danzo was once his friend and I’m not sure if he was up until his own death, there’s something about both of these men that just screams “I’m responsible for many deaths.” I mean, think about it. Kabuto killed his own mom. Itachi killed his whole family. Hiruzen let Orochimaru get away scott-free after killing hundreds in his experiments, which then led to him brainwashing Sasuke in the near future. All this and more because of Danzo’s darkness and Hiruzen’s passivity as a Hokage. Tragic.
Yahiko

He looks familiar because he was this dude after Nagato made him into a path or whatever. The thing about Yahiko is that he just always had so much fire and was a natural born leader. Even his death was cool. Although very awkward, he is just so cute. I was shook when I saw him and Konan “kiss”. Who knew they liked each other!?
And there you have it! Unfortunately this may be one of my last posts on the Naruto franchise since I’m almost done and will be moving on to more anime. But what do you think of my list? Leave comments below!

A book on Itachi! I didn’t know there was one. Is it a manga?
The OGs are still respected in Boruto. The storyline just a little modified.

Yes!! Have you read his books? Itachi was all about sacrifice. I’m still thinking about the fact that he literally decided to do all that stuff and thought out his death so thoroughly. And I’m iffy on starting Boruto afterward. I don’t like how the youngsters are so disrespectful to the OGs 😂

OMG!! A fellow Naruto fan!
I finished this then started Boruto.
Itachi was my favourite in the last episodes of Naruto. That guy can sacrifice.
