I don’t know if anyone knows, but I am a huge Sonic fan. Well, maybe not that big. But I absolutely love the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. I wrote about how enthralled I was with Shadow the Hedgehog as a child, and how impactful that video game was for me, and while seeing Sonic the movie in 2020 may have been a flop in my eyes, boy did they make up for it in this year’s Sonic 2. From the character designs to the hinted ending with none other than my favorite character from the franchise, I had to think about how stoked I was for this movie’s third installment for about a whole week.
Knuckles was SPOT on. Even with a British accent.
I was a little thrown off by the fact that Eggman and Knuckles were teamed up in this live action sequel, but as I watched and remembered the history between the Knuckles and Sonic, I realized that they aren’t exactly best buds and that they’re mostly considered rivals. I admired the homework done that the writers had to do, which was spot on.
Tails was perfect in every way.
Everything from Tail’s voice to his look was spot on. His character was always mentee-ish to Sonic anyway and it was nice to see him back. His inventions are always so cool and he just has an awesome vibe.
SHADOW IS COMING! I REPEAT! SHADOW IS COMING!
Perhaps the most shocking thing I saw past the ending credits was The Black Hedgehogs That Is Known to Wreck Havoc. I cannot wait to see Sonic 3, as Shadow is my ultimate favorite character from the Sonic franchise. I cannot wait to see what Shadow decides to throw at Team Sonic now that they’re assembled, and what kind of backstory is dug up on him since we all know he’s more than 50 years old.
