Today is the day that many people get together and talk about things they are thankful for, and I’d like to do the same here today on this precious platform of mine.
I want to really stretch myself here and name ten things I am thankful for this year.
#1 would be school.
I am thankful for the opportunity to go back to school. I was able to start after two years of trying to save money. I will be paying the last amount on my class next month which I am very excited about! I am closer to my degree and I am thankful for this.
#2 is libraries.
You don’t know how much joy libraries bring me. To see books, big and small in such a beautiful place is just mind blowing. I’d love to see my published books in a library one day and I’d love to aid in helping other people publish their own books and they’d be in libraries as well. And the possibilities of stories to find and get into are endless!
#3 is writing books.
I recently started writing again and while I still feel fearful in a lot of areas, I have found a lot of healing from opening up my laptop, going to a blank page, and just typing in a short story or idea to get it out of my head and off my chest. Of course, as I’m learning, these pieces of writings will never be best sellers nor would they probably ever get published, but I think it’s important for me to accept that writing books will forever be apart of my daily routine and schedule.
#4 is truth.
It seems like the truth is rare these days, and lies are all around us. With people claiming that the sky is red and boys can be girls and girls can be boys, it’s hard to determine what is true and what isn’t. Well, I firmly believe that the Bible is truth and that Jesus is truth, and whatever He says is absolute truth. I do still believe lies, but I dedicated to searching out those lies and filling them with truth. The truth is, truth hurts. It hurts deeply and painfully but it is a good pain. It forces you to face your biggest fears over and over, and you become a different person. I have experienced this many times.
#5 is blogging.
Years ago when I decided to embark on this journey of becoming a blogger, I have learned many things about writing, building an audience, and writing for you and writing for others. I have grown to become a bit more disciplined in my writings, and I thank this to WordPress for being so much more simple to use and having a friendly approach. I plan to stay with WordPress for many more years!
#6 is God.
God is Someone who has helped me through many hard times in my life. Without Him guiding me, I wouldn’t be here writing these things on this blog. I am forever grateful to Him.
#7 is movies.
I think I’ve underestimated the importance of a good movie when it comes to having something to watch while you’re writing lesson plans or just chilling. Movies are an awesome concept that I really appreciate. (If you can’t tell, I am not really much of a movie watcher.)
#8 is warm weather when it’s cold.
It pops in like a thief in the night! Sunny and warm weather after a bout of cold is such a godsend. It’s amazing how the cool undertone mixes with the hot sun and it just feels surreal. It’s a wonderful feeling, especially here in Texas.
#9 is a home to live in and a car to drive.
It’s amazing to think about the things we take for granted. I took a house and a car for granted in the past. These things are luxuries and are privileges to have and take care of. I may not always like the responsibility aspect of it always, but there’s nothing like knowing that I can drive home in my own car and listen to my own music. Same for a home. I have somewhere I can go so I can process life and be myself. It’s a privilege I didn’t always have and wasn’t supposed to have, and I’m thankful for it.
#10 is food to eat.
I am thankful for food being consistently available on a daily basis. I never knew how to grocery shop for myself nor cook, and these are things I’m learning now as an adult. It’s awesome to know how to cook your own food and feed yourself!
What are you thankful for? I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving!
